The kirin, also known as the Chinese unicorn, is an eastern-based creature that is said to appear to those with great virtue. It is also said to appear in times of good government. The kirin symbolizes good luck, prosperity, and serenity. The kirin actually the Korean interpretation of the Qilin, which is a creature of Chinese mythology. Some say that the kirin is a mix between a dragon and a Qilin.
Appearance: The kirin is a chimeric animal god. It has the body of a deer, scales of a carp, tail of an ox, mane of a horse, and a stick for a horn. Kirins are magical creatures, and the scales can be almost any color.
Mythology: When you search "kirin mythology" into Google, the top creature that pops up is the Qilin, but if you type "kirin Korean mythology", the right creature pops up. Anyway. The kirin is said to incinerate people they think are sinful, foul, or wicked. It is also said to appear at the arrival of a sage or ruler.
